Funeral Services At Sea, Onboard The Thames Sailing Barge “ALICE”
Ashes Scattered at Sea
Scattering ashes at sea is surely the best way of showing respect for one who lived on or just dreamed of the sea. It has become increasingly common for people associated with the sea, or who just had a love of the water, to wish to be remembered in this way.
Alice is a historic Thames sailing barge moored at Gun Wharf Quays, in Portsmouth, a city steeped in Naval history. As a beautiful and classic old trading craft she gives that aura of dignity and respect that will clearly demonstrate your love and regard for the departed.
She can take you and your friends and family out to sea to scatter the ashes and floral tributes; the buoy where the Mary Rose foundered provides a very apt location. We have a sound system and suitable accompanying music. Refreshments and drinks can be supplied at your request.
A day’s sail in the Solent could follow your tribute or you might prefer to motor back to the mooring at Gun Wharf Quays.
You join at Gun Wharf usually at 1000. The normal charter lasts an hour and a half and you disembark at 1130.
